How Organizing is Better Than Chocolate

If you are someone who starts to sweat and quiver when you think about organizing your office, then here is a quick exercise in thinking more positively about organizing.

How organizing is better than chocolate:

1. Organizing can help you lose weight–both physically and mentally.  Not only will you burn calories sorting through papers and hauling trash bags out, but you will improve your energy levels because you won’t feel distracted by the chaos.  It is not uncommon to hear from my clients that they feel “lighter” after a good organization session with me.

2. Organizing your office will fill you with a sense of satisfaction and bliss that lasts long after you organize the space.  Each time you walk into your office, you will feel satisfaction from having a great workspace that inspires your creativity.

3. After organizing, you don’t carry around feelings of guilt.  In fact, you feel like you finally crossed off a major to-do from your list. If you donate unused items to charity, you’ll feel even better about letting go of those items.

Now that you have seen the benefits of organizing, try to figure out other ways that getting organized is the better choice.

Great post Gabby, and you are right about the sense of satisfaction when you have cleared some clutter. I like that you tagged this post with the word chocolate and hope there are more posts on the subject….related or organizing of course!

Well, I’m not quite convinced that organizing is better than chocolate, but perhaps it is less painful than brussels sprouts ;-) . In all seriousness, though, when I think about the sense of calm, control, and satisfaction I feel after everything has been cleaned up, I find it easier to start.
